98404 2002-11-13 22:52:00 Help!!!

I have managed to break the dim plug (part of the power supply) on my companies external cd-rewriter :_| :( :_|

Parts appear to be hard to come by. Any ideas on who is likely to sell bits and bobs like dim plugs for power supplies? (they are different to the dim plugs for mice/keyboards)

TIA

98408 2002-11-14 02:34:00 Do you mean "DIN" ? (though "dim" would describe many designs).
If so, "mini DIN" (as used for PS/2 keyboards) or full size DIN (as used on traditional keyboards)? How many pins? 180 degrees or 270 degrees pin layout?

DSE used to stock a lot of the standard DIN plugs, but I think they have fewer now. If you can't find one locally, try South Island Components (http://www.sicom.co.nz), who have all sorts of things in their catalogue. (Even better, they have all sorts of things on their shelves, as well as in the caltalogue :)).

Jaycar are pretty good too. I'm not sure if they are in Wellington, but they have a good mail order outfit in Auckland. You'll probbaly have to look at their Australian web site ... I don't think there is an NZ one.

98409 2002-11-14 03:26:00 There is a NZ Jaycar site (http://www.jaycar.co.nz/). They have a good range of DIN plugs and sockets too. The downloadable November flier has some interesting stuff in it. There's a white 20,000 mcd LED. B-) Graham L (2)
