2002-11-13 11:22:00 | For all the fans of opera out there, beta 1 of opera 7 has been released. Have only used it for a short time but it appears to be very fast, faster than opera 6.05 in fact. It also loads in half the time. It has not crashed on me yet. Even more encouraging is that it displays the Microsoft New Zealand website better than what IE6 does!

2002-11-13 11:33:00 | So what does it mean when something is a beta version? What does it mean for the end user? Are there any risks in useing a beta version? | Danger (287) | |

2002-11-13 12:47:00 | ooh, its very pretty, i must say, its growing on me! it has a feature (im not sure if its new to browsers) where you can use a style sheet made yourself with websites that RUN on css, which is kinda cool, if the site webmaster has made the site with xhtml strict pages, well, for the BEST results (now it all makes sense ! :D), well, its not imperitive, but it is helpful, its just one of those features with a web designer geek cool factor of 10 ;) grtz sal. tga

2002-11-13 13:15:00 | it is still VERY buggy, so some things i noticed (good and bad): 1. renders the page gradually, displaying it along the way, eg, doesnt wait until say the </table> tag until displaying the table 2. sometimes tables are mucked up (what ISNT new) 3. shows a huge horizontal scroll for no reason sometimes 4. switching between displaying page tabs and not can stuff up actually showing the page tabs when they should be visible 5. that damn ad (not a bug, but definitely bugs me, cant wait till someon has a spare serial ;) <<just an inside joke, from back when i first joined the forums) 6. when i sort of quickly switched from one page to another, it totally pixelated an 'image' of the previous page on the new window, was a kinda weird moment, but fixed its self without having to close down the program 7. the browser buttons, they are pretty *fading* and the page buttons, the "<input type="submit" ones, they are different too, in a cool way well, thats all i found so far after using it for an hour, lol grtz sal. tga

2002-11-13 13:37:00 | >> So what does it mean when something is a beta version? Its a trial release of the program. Can be risky for bugs, glitches, holes etc. But going on release 7.0b1, Opera has had plenty of time to refine the product, which from what I gather is a pretty sweet browser. Will install it tomorrow:). >> Are there any risks in useing a beta version? There are risks with every version - the biggest risks were(are) using IE*.* There were a few problems with every release - security holes etc. But I hear that Opera has never (don't anyone qoute that:)) had security problems. rads:)

2002-11-14 01:01:00 | I'm using O7 now. It's lurvely. Nice, fast, and definately improved. OK there's a few little niggles, and no major bugs that I have seen so far, but for a Beta, it's bloody good! I'm off to work on a new skin for it :D SiK
