98262 2002-11-13 01:02:00 When printing emails with attachments, sometimes the attachments are shown, sometimes not. Very puzzling. Don't want to print the attachments themselves, just want to see what files are attached. Any ideas? Forestman (2517)
98263 2002-11-13 08:03:00 What email program are you using (name and version)?

Can you be a bit more specific about what attachments are printing and what are not? Picture attachments often show in the message body and may print with the message but document attachments won't.

If you are wanting to print something and have the printout display the name of the attachment I'm not sure how to do that.

Its Outlook XP (Outlook 2002)

Havent used Outlook for a year or so, but it always used to print the file icon and filename for all attachments when I last used it.

98265 2002-11-13 19:07:00 Office XP now has built in security
You need to do a search in google for attachment security Outlook XP so that you can lower security. This will allow attachments designated as dangerous to be revealed
Examples are .exe, .mdb, .vbs

98266 2002-11-13 19:36:00 As already mentioned Outlook XP will not allow you to open certain attachment file types and this may be the reason why they do not show when printing the email.

Information on how to allow Outlook to open blocked attachments Here ( www.slipstick.com)

98267 2005-05-03 16:20:00 It can be done! two options -

1 . Hit "forward" on the email, don't send it, but convert it to a plain text format ("format> Plain text"), then print .

2 . According to Microsoft's site, there's a download - Outlook Service Pack 1, which will fix this . I haven't done it yet .

And just to vent - after I spent a lot of time searching and finding nothing about this, I finally hit on some clues that converting the format might work, so I tried it and it did - I took the printed email to my boss, feeling like Alice in Wonderland who has accomplished six impossible things before breakfast, and what does he say? "But the font is too big!" .

Luckily, we don't keep weapons in the office .
