98228 2002-11-13 00:52:00 zone alarm pro seems to be causing my system to hang? any ideas on resolving issues? za pro version 3.125(if i remeber right) running win98se on athlon 600 - just added a 512kb ram stick but is 133 mhz and moboard supports 100 mhz (according to handbook) seem to recoqnise 256 of it only - problem was appearing before this addition -

failing that any advice on a "good powerful but low resource hogging' firewall software package? i know i'm asking heaps, but whaaaaaa haaaaay

98229 2002-11-13 01:07:00 Hi
Could you give me some more information about your computer, like what operating systems you are using, then I may be able to help

98230 2002-11-13 01:45:00 With the ram how much in total do you have and what type of m/board do you have.

With zonealarm what do you mean by hangs, when you are surfing the net or when you shutdown?

98232 2002-11-13 12:29:00 You say according to handbook, so what is the name of you moboard?

How much ram does the handbook say it supports. My motherboard only supports 1GHz.

Does your system hang if you disable zonealarm all together in msconfig.

Could try outpost from agnitum

98233 2002-11-13 12:41:00 i too had many problems with zone alarm (i used to use it last year, but tried out nortons internet security, retried zone alarm pro this year, but just had straignt out problems so far. actually, after uninstalling it very carefully, it totally locked me out of internet access, and had to go and edit the registry etc, following instructions given to me from zonealarm from the grave!, lol

98234 2002-11-13 22:04:00 I don't think having that mix of RAM will be helping any. Leave the 512 stick in and take out the other two. Fix the software prob, then reinstall the two lower spec sticks.

As for ZA, did install a newer version over the top of an older version?? ZA is reasonably notorious for not liking this.
