98452 2002-11-14 20:38:00 Sound like some sort of con is going on here.

If you ordered a Panasonic, they are required to give you a Panasonic, UNLESS you allow them to make a substitution..

No receipt / unsealed bag???

Are you sure it ain't a second hand one and that the money hasn't gone thru the till?????

98453 2002-11-14 20:40:00 Glad to hear you like Starlyte, I have heard good things about them. They were on my list to buy components from them but in the end TasTech in ChCh had more of the parts I wanted for cheaper overall and they are local.

Starlyte are one of the few suppliers that actually respond to email requests promptly. The other two suppliers that I am happy with for service are Ascent and HotChips.

98454 2002-11-14 20:45:00 Chris: it doesn't LOOK second hand - the screw holes are as virgin as they can get, but I do have to admit to feeling uneasy about it. It's hard to believe that such a "reputable" supplier would do that, but stranger things have happened.....

Oh, and we paid by cheque. ;-)

98455 2002-11-14 20:49:00 Perhaps it is on the level then with payment by cheque....but I share your concerns..... Chris Randal (521)
98456 2002-11-14 20:54:00 Yes, Starlyte are very good. I've bought a few things from them and they always arrive next day. Many of you will know of my deallings with other stores, Starlyte are certainly at the top of my list, all else being equal - and they'll price match if they can.

For the Wellingtonians here, Starlyte are opening a store in Mt Vic soon.

It's not very difficult to spot the difference between one that's been installed and one that hasn't . . . usually there are marks or scratches . Also screwholes which haven't had screws screwed into them look a lot 'cleaner' .

98459 2002-11-15 03:45:00 Thanx crozier, that's exactly what I meant. :-)

Only thing is, hubby is an engineer and he says it's impossible to tell whether there have been screws in it or not. It LOOKS clean, but he says that doesn't mean that no screws have been in there.

For the record I don't think it is second hand...
