| 98545 | 2002-11-14 07:52:00 | How do I get into my bios on my laptop? (Compaq armada 1750)win98. it's not like my desktop that gives me a chance to get in. when I start it up it first shows the Compaq banner then the windows banner. |

I am unable to access the bios setup in my armada 1598DT It seems that when the Hard drive was wiped (b4 I bought it) the compaq bios access software was also wiped I think you may need to get the Bios access software and reinstall windows again I have tried to find the needed file at HP (compaq) saw irt once did not download it no I can't seem to find the needed file ;-( cheers |

| 98552 | 2002-11-19 21:37:00 | From what I have seen with Compaq's the BIOS is actually a small partition (about 2MB I think) on the HDD. So if you ever wipe the HDD (or get a replacement) and start from scratch you actually need to install the Compaq BIOS first so that it gets its partition. This is usually available from Compaq/HP's support website. Check out this website and get the System ROMPaq. www.compaq.com |

| 98553 | 2002-11-19 23:42:00 | That's the one, Chris. You get an executable file which makes a set of floppies, which willl want to install the maintenance partition. (Usually three floppies). If the disk has been partitioned without room for that, I think you can use the BIOS setup from the floppies without actually installing the Compaq partition. I think F10 is the most common key ... |

However I do not get a cursor in the top right hand screen and F10 just causes a beep. should I reinstall the bios? my puter go's Ok just wondering about the bios Tia |
