| 99011 | 2002-11-16 23:08:00 | Hi All For some time now when I shut doen my pc, the screen goes blank and I have to manualy press the power button for 4-5 seconds to turn it off. I have run 'msconfig', and selecting the 'Advanced' button it tells me the 'Standby feature is enabled' and the 'Hybernate feature is enabled'. Both these features are NOT enabled via the Power Settings in the Control Panel. Any ideas as to how / why they are enabled, and more importantly how might I disable them. The Power Settings don't seem to overide them. Are they stored in the registry somewhere? It's a pain having to manualy turn off my PC! TIA Chris |

If you take a look at Service pack 1 (microsoft.com) I think it has something to fix this shutdown problem. Or more specifically this shutdown patch (support.microsoft.com) will help you turn off your computer. rads:) |

| 99013 | 2002-11-18 00:07:00 | Hi I'm actually running Windows ME. I've tried searching the MS knowledge base... no luck in finding anything but that _may_ be my search criteria. Seems ME is not overly supported.... Chris |

| 99014 | 2002-11-18 02:12:00 | it's either in control panel or BIOS, in bios enter CMOS settings and select Advanced Power Management, this is will autoshotdown the PC and in control panle go to power options and tick APM Management. Not sure if it is in Win ME control panel but it should defintely be in BIOS. cheers, v.K |
