99309 2002-11-18 00:56:00 I have a PC here - AMD K6-2-350 running Win98SE.

When you try to play a .wav file you get no sound. .mid files play OK.

I have tried another sound card so it's not that or the drivers.
I have also deleted and re-install the Wave audio device in the Multimedia control Panel.

In the Sounds control panel when you try to play a sound the play button just stays on until you click the stop button.

99310 2002-11-18 01:09:00 So the second sound-card does work, but your current wont, right?!

Do you know what type of soundcard you have, or, seeing as you seem to be okay about popping open the case, check to see if there are any identifying numbers on the board.

99311 2002-11-18 01:14:00 What player are you using........ have you enabled it to play WAV files?
It could have "unticked itself"

99312 2002-11-18 01:14:00 The first one was an Anvance ALS100

The second one an ESS1868.

The wav sound don't work with either of them. So it's not a card or driver problem.

99313 2002-11-18 01:18:00 Just trying to play a sound in the Sounds Control Panel.

But doesn't work in Windows media player either.

In the sounds control panel if you click the play button on a sound the play button goes grey like it should but it stays that way.

In Windows Media player the same thing happens and the progress indicator shoots to the end very quickly.

99314 2002-11-18 01:18:00 What happens if you put the two in at once? I presume you're using the same PCI or ISA slot on your m/board, try using a different one.

Has it always been like this or has it only happened recently?!

99315 2002-11-18 01:21:00 In the Volume Control on the task bar make sure that Wave does not have a tick next to Mute. Oxie (1318)
