99218 2002-11-17 09:42:00 Evening all,

I've got this curly problem and have searched through Google and even the used Press F1 chat room to try and resolve it, but so far no success.

I've got a number of users, all with different OSs (well, 98, 2000 & XP) and diff email clients (OE [different versions] and Outlook 2000/2002) who are having error messages come up occasionally when receiving Word attachments - and this is even in-house.
The error, upon trying to open the attachment, is "The document name or path is not vaild." It then goes on to suggest saving the file first (no change) and not much else. Have searched MS KB has suggestions that it might be because it's a merged mail file (it's not) or other things like a converted html file (not).
These are different files we are talking about, and now even some recipients outside the organisation are starting to have problems opening attachments sent from users, with the same error. So we're getting it both ways: occasionally can't open word attachments (sent in house or from outside) and also people can't open the attachments we are sending - sometimes.
Word 2000 is the common denominator (haven't said those 2 words since school!) and I did search Press F1 and found a reference to the spaces in the file name (possible) with a solution off adding %1 at the end of the file-types associations etc Word ...%1. But no change!

Any suggestions please! Am starting to get nowhere fast on this one.
Babe - the Chat Room said (or was it guaranteed?) you could solve this one for me...:)

Cheers and thanks

Are you using any type of document management system?

Long shot but its a known bug.

Nah! I wish...trying at the moment to narrow down and eliminate things - bloody annoying as just can't get a grasp on what the problem is yet and felt sure *someone* would have struck the same issue at some stage...

Yes this is the one I speak about above - no solutions on that page. These are straight documents with no fancy importing, character, mail merging or html...
