99542 2002-11-19 22:10:00 Sorry .. no.. it won't come with that :( SKT174 (1319)
99543 2002-11-19 22:13:00 So I'll just need to buy some cabling that'll convert the 3.5mm plugs in the back of the sound-card into RCA - Correct or not?! Chilling_Silence (9)

99545 2002-11-19 22:26:00 Right, well if that's set then I'll order the Creative Sound Blaster Live! Digital 5.1 this afternoon.

I'm going to go with the MSI Geforce 4 MX 440SE-T 64MB DDR VideoCard with TV Out for my graphics card. Are these wise choices, or am I setting myself up for failure here or bad quality outputs?! Has anybody had any first hand experience with either of these cards?

Thanks for all your help

99546 2002-11-19 22:28:00 I think its kinda pointless buying those soundcards. Most motherboards com with onboard sound which is fine and probably just as good as those cards you are looking at. I think you would be better off waiting a bit longer and buying a SB Live. They are really good cards for your money and have all those extra features such as "EAX™ and 3D Audio Technology" which will make games like UT2003 sound really nice.

Save that $40 wait till you've got $100 and treat yourselft to a SB LIve.
Plus that card will last for ages and you can transfer it over to any future PC's.

99548 2002-11-19 22:30:00 damm..... you just posted before me. Yeah those purchase look good. Good choice going with the SB Live you wont be disapointed. I've heard good things about MSI on the net always wanted to try one of their products. Sounds like your building a new PC? what other parts you gonna use sounds like it will be a nice machine Pete O'Neil (250)
99549 2002-11-19 22:43:00 VO is a must, VI can always wait, it'd be another $120 for a PCI card that'll do it for me. Not too much of a hurry for VI at the moment... Chilling_Silence (9)
99550 2002-11-19 22:50:00 Here's what I've got so far:
MSI Geforce 4 MX 440SE-T 64MB DDR VideoCard with TV out
2x 256 MB SDRAM PC133 133Mhz
Realtech 8139c PCI Network Card 10/100 TX
Samsung Hard drive 40GB ATA-100 5400RPM SV4084H
Creative Sound Blaster live Digital 5.1
A standard Joe Bloggs ATX Case with 250W Power Supply
Im still looking for a M/Board that'll do SD-RAM and is cheap... I'm getting there
Also, a DVD-ROM (16x)

Think that's about it.

99551 2002-11-19 23:01:00 Hey .. what kinda CPU r u gonna use ? There's a Socket 478 Motherboard that supports both SD & DDR RAM (u can use either one but not both) so when DDR is cheap u can change from SD to DDR :) the board also comes with 5.1 channel sound card, 1xAGP, 3xPCI, 4xUSB 2.0 and Onboard Video as well . for $145 .. that's quite cheap SKT174 (1319)
