99519 2002-11-19 00:41:00 Hi,
I have recently upgraded my windows XP (pro edition) to service pack 1 standard and now my computer takes quite a long time to shutdown... Has service pack 1 have anything to do with it? How do I make my computer shutdown time more reasonable?.
Thanx

99520 2002-11-19 01:07:00 There has been a lot of posts about XP's shutdown problems. If you could take a look at the FAQ's, I'm sure there is something there, or maybe a search of "xp shutdown prob's"

99521 2002-11-19 01:20:00 After I installed SP1 I too experienced slowness and in particular starting the computer. The next day there was a huge power failure which could have contributed to the problem. So I am not sure if it was the SP1 installation or the power outage. Anyway, the computer improved after a defrag, so I suggest doing a defrag first. Oxie (1318)
99522 2002-11-19 20:31:00 I had the same problem. After much research I found that the event log was causing my problem.
Got this site from Steve Askew

Now all I need is to solve the slow starup problem
