99754 2002-11-20 03:34:00 Is there a way, or a utility program available, to find out the DMA channel and port setting of my sound card. I do have the IRQ setting (5). I have installed an old DOS/Windows game on my Windows 98 operating systems computer. My sound card is built onboard into the VIA KT266A motherboard which has hardware Soundblaster Pro for Windows DOS box and real-mode DOS legacy compatibility with driver support for Windows 98. Apart from the lack of sound, the game plays great on my computer.

99755 2002-11-20 03:47:00 Right click on My Computer and goto Properties
Select the Hardware/Revice Manager
Find your Soundcard and goto properties.
Select the tab over the very right and there should be some info in there.

Cheers

99756 2002-11-20 03:51:00 The problem is that its settings are different from those of the SB which the DOS programme assumes. That IRQ is right, though. ;-) The quick and dirty solution I found was to use the "PC Speaker" option for sound in the game. :D Graham L (2)
99757 2002-11-20 04:06:00 It is also possible, nay, most likely, that you have to add a line like:

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6

to your autoexec.bat for running DOS games with sound.

The parameters will need to suit your setup. Sorry I cant be more specific.

99758 2002-11-25 03:17:00 Thanks for your answers team. I lucked out and managed to guess the correct configuratios. There was no need to enter a line in the Autoexec.bat start up file.
