100475 2002-11-22 00:10:00 I've been asked to create a document that is a little beyond my humble ability.
It is to have a date on it that updates as the document prints.
The idea is that it will form the pages of a diary. Page 1 will have the date 01/01/03 (or similar) next page will have 02/01/03 and so on.
To further complicate they want two pages per day with alternating text on each page. ("Day Shift" on page 1, "Night Shift" on page 2)
Any ideas how to best achieve this?

Thanks in advance
Capt Jimbo

100476 2002-11-22 00:19:00 Er what type of document is it? Word, PDF, HTML... gibler (49)
100477 2002-11-22 00:20:00 It doesn't really matter what format is used
it's the printed output that's critical

100478 2002-11-22 01:34:00 If you have MS Word click on Insert, Date and Time. Choose the date format you want and make sure the box 'Update automatically' is ticked. Each time the document is opened the date will update. Just have two pages within the document - page 1 containing the Day Shift, insert a pg break, then page 2 for the Night Shift. Oxie (1318)
100479 2002-11-22 01:37:00 Thought of that already thanks Oxie
They want to basically print a year's worth of pages in one go.
I was thinking of perhaps using Excel with a macro to print start date + 1 for each page printed.
I'm afraid that it's a little past my skills.

100480 2002-11-22 03:36:00 How about using mail merge in Word. Contrary to what the name suggests mail merge could be used for dates or anything else that can be stored in a table or excel sheet. Search "mail merge: in Word help. crozier (2004)

(Wish I'd thought of it)

Many thanks Crozier
