100146 2002-11-21 04:16:00 about 2 years ago there was a programe on the pc world download site which enabled long file names to be used on win 3.11 file manager.
Does anyone have a copy or know its details and if it is still available for down load.
cheers.

100147 2002-11-21 04:25:00 Two years ago? Are you sure? Remember that Windows 3.11 hasn't been current product since about July 1995.

It doesn't ring any bells with me, and I am not sure what use it would be, given that no apps on 3.11 would handle them anyway.

Maybe you'll get lucky, though. Let's see what happens.

100148 2002-11-21 04:33:00 It might have been a programme to import files with W95 style long names in the 8.3 format (in the 6+sequence.3 form rather than the DOS truncated form). Graham L (2)

100151 2002-11-23 03:53:00 Thanks to all who responded.
I found it, IFA400 d/load from alexsoft.com (instant file accesss ver 4).
The version I had (more like 3 yrs ago) was a earlier version & IMHO was somewhat better, but, hey the above works.
Many thanks.

100152 2002-11-23 04:30:00 Hi Jupiter

I hope it didn't take you too long to find it.

It was No. 763 on the page I posted and similar LFN programs were available at 789, 795 & 797.

This site has no less than 1448 programs and utilities available for download. There is something there to suit just about any arcane utility request you might have.

It even has my old favourite ZTree, the 32 bit version of the XTree Gold file manager. It's a program I couldn't live without and does so much with so little fuss and never a glitch (honest).

Cheers
