| 100064 | 2002-11-21 00:29:00 | I previously used a desktop and laptop in a local network with a crossover cable between. I've replaced the desktop with a new PC and am now unable to get both the local network and an internet connection working at the same time; it's either one or the other. I'm using WinXP on the desktop and Win98 on the laptop. Any suggestions would be gratefully received! | tkelly (709) | ||

Make sure that both are on the same Workgroup, and set the one that is dialing into the Net to have the IP address 192.168.0.1 (It should automatically anyways), and set the other to Auto-Assign an IP using DHCP. The gateway may need to be set as 192.168.0.1 on the secondary PC. I'd also suggest that you setup a share of the whole HDD as "C" with everyone allowed access to it, then you can knock back the securty when its going. Hope this helps Chilling_Silence |
