| 100328 | 2002-11-21 19:40:00 | I am toying with the idea of completing an A+ certificate and have found a place in Chch - Auldhouse offering this. Wondering if there are any other places - preferably South Island and ultimately correspondence would be the best. I will need to fit this around my part time work so not looking at full time study Would value your input so I can make an informed decision |

| 100330 | 2002-11-22 03:38:00 | I have done A+ and I think the best way to do it is to go the self study course, it costs a few bucks to buy the books etc but it is cheaper than any course I have seen. You can also download brain dumps from the web, they are questions people who have sat the exam have posted.{Just search for brain dump in any search engine.} They are well worth looking at in fact I would say a must B4 you sit the exam. I also done a week cram course with accelerated computer training not sure if they are in the SI but well worth looking up. The course I'm looking at is really expensive and its only for 5 days - can't see how it will cover all of the content listed!! Can you suggest any good text books I could read in preparation? I'm off to look up the web suggestions. Anyone else got ideas? |

| 100334 | 2002-11-23 00:10:00 | I recently did A+ , and I can say choose your institute carefully , be it a part time course or corrospondance, there are a lot of shiesters out there , which care about getting your money and nothing else , there should be a goverment investergation into these so called NZQA acredited institutes.The best thing to do is ask some students that are doing studys at these places, you'll find out the truth that way , If I had I wouldnt have chosen the Institute I ended up with. | 100335 | 2002-11-23 00:29:00 | As I said it was sometime ago when I sat A+ about 5 or 6 years I think so I sat it in DOS and win3.1 then I done a refresher thing in win 95 98. But I picked up some good books at Whitcoulls sorry can't remember the name of them, they seem to have a good range of tech books. I forgot to mention Prometric were the people who set the exam and it's worth a look at http://www.prometric.com/ PS the brain dumps are by far the most valuable cram material b4 you sit the exam Good Luck |

ISBN 0-07-222274-3 Have a look at the reviews at Amazon - it does fairly well. |
