100979 2002-11-24 08:02:00 Probably because it's 95. I used Office 97 which seemed more compatable with other versions. Anyway, that would be my guess. cadifan (286)
100980 2002-11-24 08:09:00 Cadifan will be correct. Office 95 use as default formats seems to have given way to Office 97 formats. Kind people will still save in the universal Office 95-97 format, but most dont.

You can download an excel 97 viewer free from MS, but you can only view them not convert.

I regularly get friends sending me word and excel files to convert so they can work on them.

100981 2002-11-24 08:10:00 Hawkie, the files you are downloading have been created on more recent versions of Excel than you have. You will have to ask the people who send you Excel files to save them as Excel 95 Workbooks (not their current version of Excel). Oxie (1318)
100982 2002-11-25 09:23:00 The best idea would be to get a later version cadifan (286)

A computer running Win 95 probably doesn't have the specs to run the latest version.
