| 100866 | 2002-11-24 03:40:00 | I have a SIROCCO OXYGEN K6-II 500 processer with a Phillips 15" monitor, 64MB SDRAM, 8.2GB hard drive with 3.5 floppy drive, 52 speed cd rom, 56K internal fax modem. Running Win 98 SE. recently i installed office xp, and since then i have been crashing when online, usually when running yahoo messenger and msn messenger. It starts with Fatal exception OE occured at 0028:FF08A423 in VXD viaudio(03) + 00002943. I am normallly online 30 min before crashing, and its getting very annoying, i have taken office xp off my system but its still happening, ive been told i need more ram and a bigger hard drive, is this right? or can i fix whats causing this problem? Please if any one can help id aprecitate it. |

| 100867 | 2002-11-24 03:58:00 | The error message suggests your system has a flaky Via audio driver perhaps, certainly its associated with the via vxd virtual device driver. Without the benefit of more info on your sound system, try updating the audio drivers. There may be applicable information at this site: www.viaarena.com On the same site are updated 4 in 1 drivers, check your motherboard manual to see if your system has Via chips, it probably has. Lack of RAM or the hard drive itself shouldnt be a cause of the problem, though more RAM would be better. If the drive is getting full then it would be an idea to clean out unwanted stuff, or consider a bigger drive. |
