100791 2002-11-24 02:10:00 Hi there,
recently I have encountered the weirdest problems with my Award BIOS.

Lately if I turn off the power to my PC and then turn it on again, the BIOS goes very slowly through the boot process and the BIOS/POST screens draw very slowly.

Once in Windows (XP PRO) everything runs fine, also when I reboot it all goes as per normal, but if I switch it off, the BIOS has this major slowdown again.

If I enter the BIOS and make no changes but save and exit, it all works fine again - until I turn it off and back on.

Following is what happened before this started and what I have tried so far to rectify it with no success..

I installed a 4th HDD (attached to my Adaptec RAID card)

I installed a 4 port USB 2.0 card and attached a Microsolutions BackPack HDD

I installed OPUS Directory trial software

With all this installed prior to this happening, naturally I thought I would methodically remove and uninstall them one by one then remove the lot, which I have done and still the problem does not go away.

I have re-flashed the BIOS with the latest from the ASUS Website (ASUS Mobo), this still did not work so have reverted back to the original BIOS and still the problem persists.

I have shorted the CMOS to clear it and reentered all the dates/times etc, plus reverted to BIOS defaults and still no fix.

I have (as a long shot) performed FDISK /MBR and still no go.

Where to from here??

I would really appreciate some help here!!

Kind regards

100794 2002-11-24 02:34:00 That usually just misses out the RAM check. That can take a long tiome these days. (But it could be the cause. ;-) Graham L (2)
100795 2002-11-24 02:40:00 Mobo = ASUS TUV4X
CPU = Intel Tualatin PIII 1.13GHZ
RAM = 1GB (2 x 512MB Sticks)
Video Card = ASUS NVidia V8200 series 64MB RAM, AGP4x

Still has the same problem when RAID card is removed?
