2002-11-25 01:01:00 | Check out PriceSpy.co.nz for good pricing on PC parts in NZ. www.qmb.co.nz are good for Aucklanders, as is http: Not too sure about other regions myself though.

2002-11-25 01:15:00 | with winXP you really need 256meg ram or more. you need to remember the pc is only going to go as fast as the slowest componant will let it.

2002-11-25 01:18:00 | If you're wanting a New Monitor and 3D card, plus some Ram (SD-RAM about $50 for 256 more if you goto QMB or DDR about 180ish), then it'll cost you anywhere upto $7-800 depending on where you go and what you get! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |

2002-11-25 02:24:00 | The monitor would cost you the most, anywhere over $300 Absolute minimum for a 15"... Drop that and it'll cost you anywhere between $200 and $500 for a Graphics card and RAM! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2002-11-25 04:16:00 | heard good things about samsung moniters on the net, but i haven't had any hands on experiece, could be s@%$ . If your in the market for a new vid card to run UT2003 have a look at the ATI Radeon 8500 . Just had a thought you said you have a compaq pc which means in all likelyhood you dont have an AGP slot, thus limiting your options . This would mean you would have to get a PCI card and I think the best card avaliable in the PCI interface is a GeForce 4 MX420 . Have you got SD-RAM? I recently brought 256mb SD-RAM for $56 . Its just single sided generic stuff but it does the job . P . S If you've got more questions it probably worth posting a new thread

2002-11-26 02:01:00 | yeah got that feeling, its the best way to start thou a prebuilt system like the ones compaq makes . You get a functioning PC plus the safety net of after sales support . Don't know how you can call a P4 not very good? I've still got a function P1 here and that still does its job(although slowly) . Ah well gives u something to dream about
