1322483 2013-01-12 18:38:00 Both Laptop and Smartphone seem to be dropping at random times.Wired is fine.
It's a Toshiba C-650 runinng Win 7 32bit.The router is a NB6Plus4Wn.
I've updated both the laptop and router with firmware etc and tried a wireless dongle but it still drops.
The firmware for the router is 3.104k

1322484 2013-01-12 22:02:00 One possible cause can be the wireless side of the router is failing. Esp since you mention both wireless devices are dropping, it sounds like the signal is stopping from transmitting.

At a place the other day where thats happening, they had one of telecoms Thompson routers, wired OK wireless drops all the time, changed the router and works 100% now.

Do you have another router or an access point you can change over to see if it drops with another one ?

1322485 2013-01-12 22:29:00 Thanks mate.I have standard issue Thompson one here so I'll try that.
The Netcomm seems fairly stable at the moment after I changed the channel to 11.

1322486 2013-01-13 00:13:00 Yeah, changing channels can sometimes work as well. But if its been going fine for a while, then there really shouldn't be any need to change channels, unless something else has changed.

Theres many reasons why routers can play up, its just a case of find whats causing the problem at the time.

I've had a few that when you change channels it makes it worse not better.

1322487 2013-01-13 02:51:00 The Thompson failed after 10 mins,I think that's why we replaced it.
Still no dropouts with the Netcomm but it's running very hot.

1322488 2013-01-13 04:48:00 OK check your cordless phones, do they operate on 2.4Ghz?

How many other WiFi networks are near by?

1322489 2013-01-13 07:06:00 I think the Uniden WDECT3355+1nz is 2.4 Ghz
There is 1 other wireless network which is next door. The only change I've made is I hooked my T.V up to the router, but that was wired.

1322490 2013-01-13 07:40:00 Try unpluging your cordless from the power for a bit, and turn off the handset, see if that improves things. You'd be surprised! Chilling_Silence (9)
1322491 2013-01-13 08:03:00 Haven't had droppage at all today. As soon as i get one I'll unplug the phone.
Cheers Chill.
