1321926 2013-01-08 09:14:00 Is it possible to make a copy of your OS ( Running Windows 7 Home Premium), for a backup & / or copy over to another Partition, so you can upgrade one Partition to Win 8 & still have Win 7 as well. stu161204 (123)
1321927 2013-01-08 09:26:00 Have a look at the following instructions, www.extend-partition.com AOMEI Partition Assistant will do it.

I use AOMEI software all the time Via a bootable CD, but never tried the option in the article.

1321928 2013-01-08 21:56:00 You want to have your win7, and upgrade it to win8 and use both?
That's piracy, I'm pretty sure....

You could do it this way, but, then you might encounter some problems - because a new boobtloader ships with each new version of Windows - as a general rule of thumb you always install the latest OS first.

Think you got hat the wrong way around, you install the latest OS last -- Example: if you were to dual boot XP & W7 you would install XP first then install W7. Installing the newest OS first you are then trying to get an older OS to alter the Newer OS's boot loader and it may not be able. wainuitech (129)

No I don't think so, I did exactly that and with no fancy hacks or anything. You just boot off the upgrade disk and tell it you wan't to install to a new location and it creates a dual boot sytem for you. The only actual requirement for the "upgrade" is you have a eligible version of windows installed. All it requires is a spare patition or drive to install to and it's pretty simple. I downloaded my copy of 8 so I had to burn an install disk but that was easy enough also. All above board and paid for - and I'm still using 7 because I don't like 8.
