| 1321427 | 2013-01-05 20:56:00 | I downloaded Windows 8 pro and do not like it but I will persevere for a while.:xmouth: Just a couple of questions. How do I get rid of the 'sign on" every time I start? How do I get to control panel? How do I uninstall it??? I have got rid of all the icons on start up. Is there anyway I can start up directly to the Win 7 screen without going through the nonsense of clicking into the corners until I find another icon that takes me there? How do I shut down without going back to the start up page? At present I use the push button. Thanks, Jack |

Alternatively you can type for what you're looking for an it will come up in the search. I forget how to get to it manually, its either in the right hand box that pops up (incidiently this is where you shut down too, just mouse over to the right hand screen, click on the cog, shutdown) or pinned to the start screen under settings Push button is actually the best way to sleep/shut down IMO, just configure power options for what pushing the power button does. I have mine for sleep, if I do want to shut down I just head over to the right hand window thing. Very rarely want to shut down. |

| 1321432 | 2013-01-06 01:14:00 | How did you install it if you didn't have a DVD? If you installed as some kind of upgrade it might be possible to revert with out a full reinstall but I am not sure. What did you have on the PC before Windows 8 and how did you install it? |

| 1321434 | 2013-01-08 22:25:00 | What about resotoring from the Windows.old folder (If you have it) To get to control panel you must be in the start screen then type control pan... and either look for it in the programs or settings section, very tedious, but I go used to it. Think of the Start screen as the start menu except as the whole screen. So you can technically go to the start screen and start typing for what you want to look for, apps, even the obscure names of things lyk msconfig. |

Regarding msconfig -- Thats not quite right. msconfig still exists and works, all MS have done is moved the startup list/ Tab to task manger other than that it works the same, but of course with the new icons instead of just plain text. msconfig is not just for the startup options. |
