1296840 2012-08-26 08:12:00 The patent they have is for the capacitive touchscreen on mobile devices, it depends entirely on what kind of touchscreen you used in 1988 (yes Apple was around, they have been around since 1976). Even if the touchscreen you used was the same kind of capacitive touchscreen as the one that apple uses on their products the person who produced obviously didn't patent it. People can complain that seeing as apple didnt invent the touchscreen they shouldn't be able to patent it but it happens all the time with other companies. It's the same thing with Google buying out Motorola, they didn't want a company that could make mobile phones. Google wanted the 14,600 granted patents and the 6,700 pending patents. I also haven't seen Apple claim that they invented the touchscreen either... icow (15313)
1296841 2012-08-26 08:19:00 Nah, Apple invented rounded corners and wedged shaped laptops.

And the have a patent on skipping to the last picture in a series and using a motion on a touch screen to change the zoom level.

madness.

1296842 2012-08-26 08:26:00 I don't see amywhere in the post I quoted saying apple invented the touch screen.
Also to point out apple did offer to license these patents way back in 2010 prior to them taking them to court, even wanted to cross license with Samsung. In the deal offered Samsung would have been up for $0 per device

Why would they voluntarily give that power to apple?, Of course they refused, You don't sign away your future because a snake oil salesman offers you a zero dollars down deal.

If another printing company knocked on your bosses door, claimed to own the process of underling text in a document but said as long as you sign here acknowledging that every time you do so you should be paying us, but wait, out of the kindness of our hearts we will let you do it for a charge of $0 for each instance.

Also, we want access and use of all the procedures you currently use, used, or have ever used as part of the deal (we are going to write them up on our letter head, then come back and show you that all along we owned that ****)

Your boss would tell them to **** off.

Then the snake oil salesman whips out his lawsuit.

And mac fans defend this ****.

1296843 2012-08-26 09:35:00 Well, one of the reasons I dislike apple because they are suing people for no real reason - most of the time.

Everyone thinks an iSomething is the best product out there because it was the first, and 'it's just better'. I read a comment on a Siri vs Google Now video : "Google now sucks, Siri is better" I asked why - he said it's just better. Then he said there is no reason why Siri is better, it's just better according to him. People like this annoy me a lot, because of what apple and similar companies (like beats audio) have done - make their products seem the best, and average consumers will believe them.

Edit: There are other reasons such as forcing itunes if you want to use an iDevice. It is horrible for windows, maybe not so much for mac. And the whole idea of syncing is meh for me, why not just drag and drop?

1296845 2012-08-26 09:55:00 To me, most people out there in the real world want a Apple product. Oh come on please -- what a load of rubbish.

I can honestly say I have NEVER purchased any apple product and have no intention of doing so.

I'm not being suckered into the Bull and "must have" that apple and the apple fans would want you to believe.

The only apple products we have here are two ipod mini's, and those were won, so we never paid a cent. It was through a game the wife was playing years ago.

As for why I don't like apple, read the post by sahlicc7 (#44), hits it right on the head.

What I think is funny - Samsung is actually one of Apples supplier of parts for their products Article (www.slashgear.com)

1296846 2012-08-26 10:10:00 No Apple devices in our house and not likely to be, we have other brands that work for us without the major price hikes that buying Apple would involve.

Also I happen to like black components, white looks like it should be in the ER department. I build my own computers and I can choose if I want to use Windows or Linux if I bought Apple I wouldn't have those choices and I refuse to use iTunes as they promote crap quality MP3 which is useless

Yeah no one in the world wants Apple products it's not like they completely own the digital music industry and have 73% market share in the mp3 player market along with a 66% share of the tablet market. I can't imagine anyone ever buying anything apple has made.

Surely a knowledgable man like yourself knows you can multi boot what ever OS you want on a mac, that would give you more choice then if you just had a windows based system
