1322155 2013-01-11 19:01:00 Put the Boot Disk you made into the CD drive and restart your PC. You may have to press <Any Key> to boot from your Boot disk. Your PC will load up from the Boot disk and when it is finished you will see the Active@ interface which will then let you navigate to your Image file and reload it to where ever you want it. 1322156 2013-01-11 20:32:00 Thankyou both for your help. I will give that a go when I have purchased the program and am able to make a Boot Disk. Pato (2463)
1322157 2013-01-11 21:13:00 The trial should allow you to make a bootable cd as well. As long as you downloaded the version that says "Installer & Bootable CD/USB. Size: 151 MB"

Download page for reference www.disk-image.com

If you want any pictures on "how to do a recovery" just say so and I'll make some up. :)

Edited: BTW -- The bootable CD is exactly the same for functions as the installed program. Thats how to make images for system that wont boot if I need to save data before reinstalling.

1322158 2013-01-11 22:10:00 If you get time, pictures of the recovery procedure would be great. I am going to do some Incremental backups to see how it performs.

I can't make a bootable disk so I didn't download the correct version. I am going to purchase the programme anyway so I will be able to do it then.

1322159 2013-01-12 00:15:00 Had another look at making a Bootable Disk and it looks like the BootDisk Creator.exe file not found. "If you installed a trial version of active@DiskImage, Please download and reinstall full version.

I hope that doesn't mean I have to setup scheduled backups again. Should I uninstall the programme and start with the full version?.

1322160 2013-01-13 20:53:00 I can't win. My external backup drive decided to go to sleep prior to backup, so I got an error message.

Perhaps scheduled backups are not such a great idea after all.

1322161 2013-01-13 21:21:00 For reasons of simplicity I flagged away scheduled backups and trained myself to run it at the same time each week. Daily important data is backed up to a flash drive. It works for me. Anything else always seemed to want to run when it was inconvenient to me. I have no desire to leave everything switched on 24/7 and have automatic backups running in the middle ofthe night.

It is really horses for courses so long as I can recover easily from a disaster I am satisfied without making it complicated just for the sake of it.

1322163 2013-01-13 22:04:00 I am having second thoughts about doing Incremental backups and just doing the same as you. Is there any advantage in doing Incremental backups?. Pato (2463)
1322164 2013-01-13 23:33:00 You could try shadow protect for desktop, does image and incremental, you can also boot from the backup image! SolMiester (139)
