2012-08-28 00:58:00 | I had the throttle stick on a motorway, didn't realise until I lifted my foot to slow down for a toll gate, Just kept on accelerating. Went through the toll gate like a bat out of hell, But yeah, took her out of gear, aimed for the shoulder, bought her to a halt, turned off the engine. No media required.

Woman Driver. ;) I read your lips, but all they said was 'stupid woman, turn off the ignition". However, it wouldn't surprise me to find that US cars don't let you turn off the ignition while moving, just in case some idiot pulls out the key and locks the steering. At least that would get them off the road though. Maybe SJ can explain this extraordinary phenomena to us? He must have a handle on it by now. Maybe their idiot-proofing has gone the full circle and now creates idiots? Cheers Billy 8-{) :illogical |

2012-08-28 04:59:00 | I also would dare any one to take 1 hand off the wheel at 100mph, on a busy road, without racing experience. You would fail | Gobe1 (6290) | |
2012-08-28 05:13:00 | I also would dare any one to take 1 hand off the wheel at 100mph, on a busy road, without racing experience. You would fail The failure is getting to 100mph in the first place, that takes a while unless you're driving a sports car. And even at 100mph on a motorway, all you need is a couple of seconds of straight line driving to easily turn the key off. The only reasonable excuse is what someone suggested about american cars maybe not letting you turn the ignition off while in motion, anything else is just stupidity.

2012-08-28 05:30:00 | Has anyone tried putting an auto into neutral at a 100kph, or tried turning the ignition off. Very curious. Have Only ever done this in my old escort and that was manual. | plod (107) | |
