Out of the box you could argue it can't do everything you'd want to do, but look around for an app and it can do everything I have wanted it to do. I can for starters see my home PC with it and play any video content from there, it is great as a magazine and web content browser (online or off), ok as a camera and enjoyed the games on it. I'm not big on the Apple loving fanatics, wouldn't want an iPhone or a iPod, but the new iPad is decent enough and if you like reading magazine type online content then Flipboard is pretty much as good as it gets. I also now read Sydney Morning Herald on it as the iPad version beats reading the local paper.

Between the iPad, an android phone and my Acer laptop, I feel I have everything but gaming covered, and have an xbox for that.

Saw this yesterday / today, very short but sums things up well:

I should have been more specific. For me it is not the Apple products that I dislike. I will concede that iPads, iPods, iMacs or whatever are technically and fashionably very good. If someone gave an iPad to me or offered one to me at a bargain price then I would probably use it and just might 'like' it. However it is the cult following that I dislike. I have a few friends with Apple products who are *not* cult followers, so no problem. But I know of several cult followers (one is a friend) who are most annoying with their distorted, Apple marketing / Jobs-cult views. Then again, Apple products imo are over priced and do have some bad features such as non-removable batteries and inability to add memory.

icow, do you remember WMG? :yuck:

1296893 2012-08-27 22:02:00 Hardly call it a monolopy when the cellphone market had been alive and kicking for 20 plus years before the iphone came out, not apples fault if other companies weren't doing anything new. MS had a full 10 years head start in the tablet business, Samsung had a tablet before apple but nobody noticed.

Don't know if your aware if it but Apple goes to court next month to get all Samsung mobile devices banned in the US and if they succeed in that watch out all other Android manufacturers then they'll go after the rest of the world markets as they have tried to do with tablets. Apple wants the whole market in the US/world to it's self. Steve jobs said that he was declaring thermo nuclear war on android and Cook is just following his masters wished even if they are from the grave..

Apple have tried to settle some of these lawsuits. Steve Jobs is dead so he wont be declaring anything. Tim Cook seems a lot more sensible plod (107)

Actually:
1) Most of the infringements were Samsungs own doing and aren't in stock android. That and the Galaxy S blatantly looks like the iPhone 3G, so it's their own damn fault there
2) This doesn't mean an all out war, many like HTC have patents they can happily counter-sue with (Google gave HTC several for it's arsenal just for this very reason)
3) I think the whole thing with Jobs is blown way outta proportion. Considering on his death bed he was still offering Larry Page advice on how to run his company and things, I think he more just had a bad day that day and said some things that the media have run with...

1296896 2012-08-27 22:41:00 Well, you cant get much more "anti competitive" than that can you. I hope that gets thrown out and laughed at as the courts take a few more thousand dollars from apple for wasting its time. Iantech (16386)

The reason so many phones got hit is that the carriers keep on renaming the same phone, the following year the same phone gets renamed again as a low end model. So many variants of the galaxy S its not funny

I disagree with you Chill. If Samsung, HTC et all do sue Apple, how is that not an all out war? And also, the Galaxy S's software did look very similar, but the hardware? Don't forget it had the distinctive chin on it. However, Job's thermonuclear war was just an off the cuff comment, and should only be taken as such

Because the rest of them aren't interested in suing Apple. They've purely countersued so far as far as I am aware, with the exception being Motorola, although that's quite possibly in retaliation to previous.

Although the Galaxy S has been shrunk a little in the image, it's still pretty damn similar even from a hardware perspective. Imagine them with the screen off... Believe me, I know, I've owned BOTH devices for over 9 months each. Front on they are very damn similar.
