| 1322400 | 2013-01-11 11:15:00 | Hey Guys I've looked into this many times, but never came to an absolute answer. I've now got my SSD installed, and I've discovered very quickly that it filled up fast, and one of the biggest files on it is the Pagefile.sys at 12GB. I have 12GB of RAM in my computer, so could anyone recommend what to do with this file? Of my 180GB SSD, I've only got 12GB left, so every bit counts. :) (P.S, I'm clearing off other files on the drive, I just want someone to explain the file to me) Cheers |

| 1322406 | 2013-01-13 04:42:00 | Try disabling your page file and if you do have problems then you can add it back again. I would have something like 250 or so in the Initial size (MB): field and 1000 or so in the Maximum size (MB): field. Another thing to check is whether you have Hibernation enabled. If it is then disable it if you don't use it. If you do then shrink the file size down to 50% of your RAM size. Finally, if you don't use System Restore then disable that as well to save even more space. |

| 1322407 | 2013-01-13 04:51:00 | Hibernation is best disabled by going through the Start Menu, finding " Command Prompt", right-click on it and go "Run as Administrator". Then run: Powercfg -h off That removes hiberfil.sys I have my Pagefile also disabled on one PC but set to 2GB on my spare PCs on secondary HDDs. Put SSDs in all my PCs, well worth the investment! |
