1321314 2013-01-04 21:15:00 i have an old Toshiba Satellite pro A300 running Vista which has lost its sound with the error message on the speaker icon at the bottom no audio output device installed, have tried uninstalling and reinstalling latest drivers but no go, it does state on the device manger Cannot start code 10, also which maybe unrelated but will not wake up from hibernation, i believe it has inboard sound so it could be a mobo problem but would appreciate any help before i replace the laptop PeterQ (16315)
1321315 2013-01-04 21:58:00 I should add that i have tried Microsoft fix it and have downloaded the latest updates from toshiba, also done various searches but nothing works PeterQ (16315)

1321317 2013-01-05 02:19:00 thank you, i guess its time to say goodbye to it PeterQ (16315)
1321318 2013-01-05 10:22:00 Try running the laptop from a linux CD, see if it picks up the audio.

The reason for suggesting that is I have a HP Laptop here now, very similar problem, the audio wont work on the new install and get error messages, BUT when I load up the original, but flaky original cloned OS it works fine, so The hardware is OK, it also works OK on a linux Live CD. Got all the right drivers from HP, but still No-go.
