1475457 2021-03-09 19:42:00 We filled our motorhome drinking water tank before we left Auckland. I have medication that I need to take with a glass of water and the Auckland water tastes so bad that I need to have some juice afterwards to get rid of the taste. I just don't know how anyone can drink the stuff.:yuck:

In our travels we topped up the water tank in Taranaki. What a difference. The Taranaki water is much nicer and a swig of juice is no longer necessary.

Tempted to stay in Taranaki even if it is just for the water.:)

1475458 2021-03-09 19:51:00 Napier is bad. Since the problem a couple of years ago in the Bay they have chlorinated our water. They say it is to prevent sickness. I rang and asked them to take out the chlorine as it tasted better with the shite in it. We have put in a filter system on our side of the water toby. Cost about $1200 but geez it's good. Water is now drinkable :)

it'd have chlorine in it wouldn't it? Here in Lower Hutt we didn't until there was bugs found in the aquifier.....and once they introduced chlorine, we put whole house water filtering on.

Probably why a bunch of Aucklanders buy water. You should try Cyprus etc, where it's all ex-salt water....so tap water is not drinkable at all....but then buying water is like 50c a 1litre

1475461 2021-03-10 02:04:00 Auckland has the best water in the country. Not only safe, but PH neutral.

Sure sometimes first thing in the morning you could notice a bit of chlorine, until the sun dissipated it...but better than campylobacter.

I had that once.
The antichlorine brigade need to study their history and realise this is why cholera and dysentery etc are not common like it used to be.

Napier is horrible, it has a high manganese content, we've put a kitchen filter in to help with that, I had to chlorinate the toilet cistern often, you'd flush and get dirty brown sludge.
At least they chlorinated it now, but there are a lot of confused people here who don't understand chemistry....blaming old cylinders leaking and the like on it.
Science should be a basic school requirement.

Nope! I guess it was to much to expect from a city council.

perhaps the issue was from where & how you filled it up, issue with the hose or water pipes where you filled it ?

Ak water is fine. Or maybee Im just used to it ?
Because its chlorinated, you never use the first bit of water out of the tap, let the tap run for a bit .
That first bit of water out of the tap can sometimes be quite bad .

I have a carbon filter for my drinking water, it possibly does nothing usefull but the placebo effect works wonders :)
