none as bad as having a laptop in for repair....
I turn it on & a non stop stream of baby cockroaches coming out of every orifice . :horrified
Of course we didnt have any fly spray to kill them as they ran out of it . Never seen so many tiny roaches , workshop was infested with them after that .

Rat & mouse poo in PC's not as common as it used to be for some reason .

Not so much of a problem unless they are under high load or overload. A bunch of small things like phone charger, lamp, printer, laptop, cordless phone, network switch, radio, clock etc is fine.

It's when you get the idiots who run three heaters from the same socket that you have problems - or using cheap standards non-compliant gear from eBay, or old multi-boards that are worn with loose contacts.

And then they plug in a big-arse 2400w heater and wonder why the PC instantly turns off or a fuse blows.

1475390 2021-03-08 06:11:00 We have industrial multi boxes on our building sites with their own built in trips, they can run all our power tools on the 6 sockets yet cannot boil 2 jugs at once without tripping. gary67 (56)

That makes sense if they're still only rated the standard 10A (2400Watt) total capacity.

The tools would probably only be a couple hundred watts each, and also won't draw full power constantly, as it varies with their workload.

In contrast, two modern jugs will draw about 5000Watt/20A in total, continuously.

1475392 2021-03-08 21:20:00 The difference between purely resistive loads (the jugs) and inductive ones (the power tools) is probably the cause of that, and the fact that the power tools won't be working at full capacity all the time whereas the jugs will. Especially if the jugs are 2000 Watts each then no surprise that 4000 Watts total is tripping the 10 Amp breaker zqwerty (97)
