| 1474692 | 2021-01-25 21:24:00 | I have always called it a fire engine and it has been that way for the 75 years of my life, but just lately I have been hearing the Yank version, fire truck. We are not Yank! Let's have the Kiwi version - fire engine. But then there was a story on the news recently where an interviewed fireman called it a fire appliance. So I would think that if the firemen who work in the business call it a fire appliance, then that is what we should call it. So, a fire appliance it is.:) |

Why do we need to copy the Yanks? We have our own languague and colloquialisms. Unfortunately the uneducated among us don't know any better and copy the Yanks.:groan: |

It is in the same vein as "The wheels on the bus go round round round" After 11 years of driving the little rugrats around, I know most of the littlies songs off by heart. Ken :) |
