1469409 2020-06-11 22:15:00 Thanks for the info & I think you are quite right in what you say.
Years ago I tried Panda antivirus.
What you guys think of that?

Im not sure that cloud based AV is ever a good idea . If the PC looses internet , will it still work ?
Better to stick with AV that has a LONG TERM proven record of good detection rates AND good cleanup/removal (Some AV's arnt good at both)

Even MS's AVs over the many years have had a very spotty performance , good for a while, bad for a while, good , bad , good , bad . AV Products simply abandoned after a while.
I think you need to look at long term performance , over many years , rather than flavor of the month .

1469410 2020-06-11 22:36:00 Just adding to 1101's comment -- AND some people have a habit of installing trials of every AV that's available because they are to tight to pay for something decent , maybe use for a while then put something else in. All this does is make a total mess of your system with redundant folders, files and reg entries. You are not meant to really install multiple AVs as they can and often do fight one another rending all useless.

For example Malwarebytes has a active protection in it, and like job I was doing this week, the persons Malwarebytes had expired, so not working, also had Avast, McAfee , the computer was a mess and slow as a wet week. Uninstalled them all, fixed the system, cleaned up all the left overs, installed Nod32, removed several pieces of Malware -- Runs like new now :)

Ive seen that happen. 2 AV's installed . PC infected
one AV would try & clean up infection but couldnt as 2nd AV was blocking access (and vice versa). :banana
