OMG this is awful.

I’ve been caught by the “Spelling Police Woman” who’s been hiding undercover. :crying

What steps should I take?

Which one of you rude buggers said “Long Ones”. :annoyed:

1474705 2021-01-26 06:01:00 Since I grew up with a paramedic for a Father, firemen/women will always be known as nodding daffodils in my world, When attending anything with a serious injury apparently they would just stand around in their yellow fire helmets nodding. gary67 (56)

You have to watch out for Bevy. He is after any wrong doers. He's been at it for quite a while.

I'm not certain. That's just what I thought. Perhaps Bevy can tell us.

1474709 2021-01-26 19:21:00 I have always called it a fire engine ..........but just lately I have been hearing the Yank version, fire truck.

I don't know, what's logical? An engine, to me, is the bit under the bonnet that powers the vehicle.
You have cars, SUVs, motorbikes and trucks.....

If it's a truck, fire or not, well, a truck is a truck. Not an engine.

Who says oh look a Kenworth engine?

1474710 2021-01-26 21:00:00 I was a fireman in Auckland (mainly at Avondale fire station in Blockhouse Bay Rd) from late 1959 to mid 1963) ... We called them Pumps. At a fire if you needed help you got on the radio to Pitt St HQ with a message such as "Make pumps 3"

In early days the fire appliance was the means to carry the pump, whether by horse and cart or suchlike.

Glad I'm not a fireman these days. So much death and destruction to deal with. We only ever had fires as a problem.

Ken;)
