1469607 2020-06-20 02:14:00 I have my Fibre Internet many years ago, am now just changing to new 'Unplan'... :) bk T (215)
1469608 2020-06-20 05:26:00 That's a quick install. I ordered mine about a week ago. Chorus coming to scope it on June 24 and install on July 07. Going to be interesting as Chorus has only put in the ducting and no fiber in our street. The guy next door has had two Chorus people out to do his and both have gone away without doing anything. The side streets have all been done as you can see the guide stalks pocking out but there's none of those in my street. I think it was forgotten about when the level 4 lockdown happened.

Update. The Chorus group arrived today to have a look. Found a blockage at the old copper demark box and can't get thru it so will have to trench from the other side of the house in to the lounge. Looks like I'll have to upgrade my Ethernet over power to faster units. Currently they max out at about 45Mbits. Booked for next Tuesday . Will have to run a couple of meters of cable from the OPT box to the old BT linejack in the kitchen to get phone service around the house. He seems to think that there is fiber in the street. I'll wait and see what happens.

At this stage, they are not sure that there's fibre in the street??? That's unusual.

1469610 2020-06-20 09:16:00 All they do is put in the ducting to all the houses on the street then when you order the fiber they blow it through the appropriate duct to your place.

Just got mine three days ago, ordered it in September last year.

1469611 2020-06-20 22:52:00 When I first ordered my Fibre many years ago, it took ~7 days for Chorus to get it installed. It went through fairly smoothly, everything was up and running on the day of the actual installation. Was having some issues with the landline when they cut off my copper wire. Finally got it sorted, but that was about a week later.

zqwerty, "Just got mine three days ago, ordered it in September last year. " Something 'unthinkable‘。

1469612 2020-06-21 09:30:00 Yeah all the increased efficiency due to privatization. Five separate teams worked on the installation, all not in close communication with each other it seems. zqwerty (97)
1469613 2020-06-21 23:07:00 Received my new shinny Spark modem VRV9517UWAC34 this morning .

After unboxing it, found that I have only 3 Ethernet ports available for my devices, but I have 4 devices using Ethernet connection . My previous HG659B has 4 Ethernet ports .

Any other options other than buying a switch?

Any other options other than buying a switch? No Not really.

Got a customer who has a similar problem wants to run another 1 Cable but all ports filled, no big deal to add in a switch, just make sure its a Gigabit Switch and you have a spare power socket to power it.

Any idea what brand is the VRV9517UWAC34? Not Huawei, I supposed, but the external design is similar to HG695B.
