1469440 2020-06-09 00:45:00 Had the exact same thing happen on a customers Business this morning finishing off setting up 18 Dual monitors. The Gotya was the HDMI - When the HDMI was plugged in it took over, and killed the sound. ( monitors don't have Speakers)

To sort it I had to go through each option in the Sound output list Via the control panel, right click - Test-- A few did how you described, bars move but no sound - then bingo !! one worked, changed that to the default.

Edited: anyone want 18 Empty monitor boxes :D

1469443 2020-06-09 04:58:00 Is this a All in One Computer or a Desktop Tower separate monitor, Speakers etc.

If separate speakers - ( don't laugh at this it DOES happen) they are turned on ?? Didn't bump the plug or something ??

1469444 2020-06-09 05:01:00 HP AIO.

No separate speakers. Built in.

I was doing YT, and then went to do some PS before starting work. I shut down the browser, pressed go on the PS controller, pushed the HDMI button on the PC, and when the PS load screen came up, no sound.

Between sound on YT and no sound on PS load screen, maybe 15-20 secs.

You'll be hearing Sound shortly :badpc: grrrrrrr lets say its not playing nice.

Of course - that just seemed common sense.

1469447 2020-06-09 07:20:00 Of course - that just seemed common sense. Its not all that common, and unless asked sometimes its not obvious. Like a Person today called and said the Adaptor I supplied didn't fit -- When he removed the plastic protective cap on the end guess what happened. ;) wainuitech (129)
1469448 2020-06-09 08:07:00 Just a thought and maybe you have already have tried. Go to device manager and from the Sound Controller delete the sound program (Realtech maybe). Reboot and then download and reinstall the latest Sound program. Reboot again and see if all works again. Check that the program is setup for your sound system. Bryan (147)

Yeah ya see, that sort of stuff is where I back down, uninstalling...downloading....hoping I get the right thing....I know to you it's simple, but I usually leave that to people who know how to fix if it all goes tits-up.
