2002-11-24 22:30:00 There are several games on my computer that are difficult to play because they are too dark. Wolfenstein is especially bad, there is a level that is unplayable because it is pitch black. I have maxed out the game brightness and my monitors brightness but it is still too dark. There was a brightness setting page under Display Properties/ Advanced, but with subsequent display driver changes this page has vanished. Is there a registry setting I can change? Or the System.ini brightness value does increasing this make a difference?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Cheers.

2002-11-24 22:35:00 Most games have a brightness setting on the setup or options page within the game. Look for video setup or options. crozier (2004)
2002-11-24 22:38:00 Have you tried adjusting the "gamma settings" ...? What graphics card do you have? How old is your monitor, etc...?

2002-11-24 22:40:00 it does actually pay to say what OS, what video card you have, what drivers you have installed for it. tweak'e (174)

2002-11-24 22:55:00 Do you have a similar problem to any other games, or just this one? Have you found the "gamma settings" in the video options? How old is your monitor?? Older ones aren't that flash when it comes to brightness...

2002-11-24 22:57:00 Yes there is a brightness setting within the game but this is already maxed out. What other settings could be changed within the game that would increase the lighting? squirrel (2621)
2002-11-24 23:08:00 I have this same problem with other games. My PC is P3 800mhz on a transend TS-AVE3/B Mobo, running Windows Me, and Microvision AS1770 monitor(www.target-int.nl). squirrel (2621)
2002-11-24 23:12:00 I have a similar problem but not as bad, my vid card is a cheap Powercolor gf mx200, just about every game I play I need to up the brightness within the game, Wolfy is particularly dark and by upping the brightness you lose contrast, but at least what I have is playable... best solution invest in a decent card.
