101055 2002-11-24 17:35:00 Hi, Gremlins aka children have left me with a "zoomed in" looked desktop. Son swears he played a game cd, and desktop "looked like that" when he had finished. Everything is bigger! Readjusted desktop icons, but the system tray icons (speaker, Norton NAV, etc) are distorted - I made them smaller just so that I could recognize what they were, but they are so tiny now and still look "embroidered"; made up of squares, if that makes sense. The explorer browser, outlook express and show desktop icons are not affected. Any ideas? I have Windows 98. Elle elle cee (2615)
101056 2002-11-24 18:07:00 It sounds like your display resolution and number of display colours have been set downwards.

Rightclick on a blank part of your desktop, and select 'Properties'. Select the 'Settings' tab and check the slider named 'Screen Area'. It may show '640 x 480'. If so, drag it across to, say, 800 x 600. In the 'Colours' dropbox, select a higher number of colours than 256. Click 'Apply' and check if the settings are suitable.

101057 2002-11-24 22:01:00 sounds like your graphics settings have been changed
change them back in your properties if this doesnt work i would assume the "game" has changed your video drivers just reinstall your video drivers and that should fix your problem
also after this is fixed run nortons system works to see if anything else has been changed
also download and run adaware to make sure the program that your child ran did not install any spyware on your comuter
