| 101587 | 2002-11-27 04:25:00 | Righto... So you can install the drivers for your Creative DRX3 thingy, but as soon as you run setup.exe you have problems (practically just repeated what you said) Okay, I'm not too sure how this works with 2k as I don't have access to it just now, however these instructions are for WinME and should be along the same lines Step 1: - Uninstalling the Card No doubt you've already done this a few times, but here it goes: Start > Windows > Settings > Control Panel > System and then open the device manager tab. Find all the devices that are associated with the card, highlight and click Remove. If it asks for a restart then say No. Then go Start > Windows > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and make sure there's nothing in there associated with the card. Now you can reset. Step 2: - Re-installing the Card When Windows reboots (and you've logged in with an account with Administrative Privilages) then it should say "New Device Found" please select the location of the driver for it. Press Escape here and you should go through to the desktop. If Windows automatically starts installing Drivers for you (then switch to linux - joking) then just go back to step 1 and remove the devices however don't reset Step 3: - Setup.exe Once you have your desktop back (and have no unnecessary windows open) then go through to your setup.exe file and try reinstalling from there. If you get the same problems then post back. What I am thinking from the error is that setup.exe is trying to install a new driver (or update it) and cannot do this with the driver already been in use. Otherwise, another program is using the card and it's drivers and therefore setup cannot over-write the necessary files. Hope this helps CyberChuck |
