101541 2002-11-26 06:55:00 Hi Jeff1

I'm a bit confused . . . . do you mean that when you using Outlook or Outlook Express and try to download your email, you are asked for the password each time?

If not, could you please clarify your problem further .

Cheers
Jen

101542 2002-11-26 07:56:00 Hey Jeff1

I'm guessing here that you are using win98 and want your PC to automatically dial out for you and logon etc.
As long as you have ticked the "save password" box when the connection box comes up yuou can do this:
Go to My COmputer - then Dial Up Networking.
Click on "Connections" in dial up networking, then "settings" (i'm working off the top of my head here, and it hurts) then put a tick in the box that says something like "connect automatically".
Worth a crack Nigel.

101543 2002-11-26 08:15:00 I'm sorry guys, I'll try to explain myself better. My OS is Windows Me, I am using IE6. I am a varsity student and as it is holidays I have cut my Internet time with Xtra to only 10 hrs. When I log on to my Email, account which is with xtramail, it takes ages to go through the process of putting in user name and entering my password. I was told that there was a way I could access my Email account without having to do this all the time. Hope this explains my problem better.
Thank You.

101544 2002-11-26 08:26:00 why don't you use pop3 access, and download it directly? If its on xtramail I assume you have a normal account, which includes pop3 access? godfather (25)
101545 2002-11-26 08:34:00 You only start getting charged by Xtra when your modem connects so the time it takes to connect or the fact that you have to enter your password is not an issue.
To downlod new mail you have to connect to Xtra, after this is done you can of course disconnect and read and compose mail without being connected or charged if you use a mail client such as Outlook Express
.
If you are using Xtra Web Mail from their web site you have to be connected all the time so it would be better to set up your mail account in a mail program such as Outlook Express which will save connection time as you can download the mail to your inbox on your computer.

If you want to read mail that is already in your inbox and the the connect screen come up when you open Outlook Express just cancel it to prevent the modem connecting.
