102011 2002-11-27 23:27:00 I only have 40mb 72pin EDO ram and when i minismize, the wallpaper takes a long time to come up (it "scrolls" down), and when i am listening to music in winamp, the music stops until its complete.

How do i give winamp priority and full resources when playing music?

102012 2002-11-27 23:54:00 what make and speed CPU do you have? what OS? which winamp? what sound card?

you can give winamp a higher priority but i would say your pc would proberly crash.

it sounds like your sytem is a little underpowered for what you are asking it to do.

102013 2002-11-28 00:18:00 well its a pentium II 266, 4gb hardrive...win98...Winamp 2.78

I just ordered a beefy laptop and that'll be good but in the 2 week wait i gotta use this hunk of sh1t and i got a big MP3 list (taking 2 gigs up, lol) and everytime i minismize...argh...gotta wait 30 SECONDS OR MORE for my screen (1024x768) to minismize or close and the music stops.

The thing is, if i listen to music within Kazaa and minizmise, it dosn't do that...so im guessing kazaa gave itself more resources for mp3 playback. i want to use winamp (the features, see) but then that happens

102014 2002-11-28 00:30:00 well firstly i've never seen a p2 with edo ram before. i would upgrade to at least 128 meg ram, prefer 196.

would pay to get the later ver of winamp2 ver 2.81 as there are several bug fixes.

what video card do you have ?

102015 2002-11-28 00:40:00 I read about Chime's Tray Play page 89, Nov PCWorld

Evidently its a basic player that might fit the bill if you don't want all the superflous features and you have a low-powered PC. It cam free on the cover disc evidently

102016 2002-11-28 00:42:00 Try shrinking Screen Res or Color Depth if possible. Make sure you dont have anything else running down the bottom right hand corner by the Time that'd be using up your RAM. Chilling_Silence (9)
102017 2002-11-28 00:46:00 I've got a similar system to yours but with 160MB RAM and Winamp pauses like that for me too. Don't know why Kazaa doesn't but if you want to use Winamp you're just going to have to put up with it until your new beast arrives. Susan B (19)
102018 2002-11-28 01:06:00 Do a quick Google Search for SoriTong, Its a media player, origionally in asian languages, but its great on anything P200 or lower with limited RAM! Chilling_Silence (9)
