101715 2002-11-27 02:08:00 Newer dvd players DO play DivX, but it's not an accepted format as yet. They are only really catching up with SVCD... but there ARE new players which support DivX, but you will have to wait until next year to get standalone players supporting DivX in New Zealand.

S-Video out is pretty much standard nowadays anyway, so not really an issue if you ask me...

101719 2002-11-27 02:14:00 If you are only concerned about DivX and playing DVD's... then get an X-Box... it plays both, and can be made region free as well!!

101722 2002-11-27 03:03:00 > and also has Macrovision On-Off

How do you turn macro vision off on this model?

101723 2002-11-27 03:47:00 So both models play VCD and SVCD. Does that mean I could just create one off these and it would play straight away?

101724 2002-11-27 03:48:00 No. Neither X-Box or PS2 will play SVCD at this stage.
