2002-11-28 06:52:00 | from memory you just copy the bin file into the "updates" directory in the AVG folder, and it digests it? Been a while since I have seen AVG.. | godfather (25) | |

2002-11-28 08:34:00 | Hi pilot, If you open AVG,click Service/Update,you will find you have 3 options+cancel From Internet,From Folder or From CD, If you downloaded from the Internet using the Update,it will self install but if you downloaded from Grisoft's support page,it will be in a folder that you will have to extract to the programme(From Folder) Cheers,Kiwitas,;-)

2002-11-28 08:40:00 | On one computer I use Opera as browser and AVG will not update automatically. I download the new update file from the AVG website to the desktop. I then go to windows explorer and rightclick the downloaded binfile, drag it to the update folder in the AVG programme folder, release the rightclick and choose the option "move here". AVG then automatically installs the new sig files next time it opens. This procedure is explained on the AVG free updates website. Hope this helps, Antonia

2002-11-29 08:21:00 | Hi Antonia I only use Opera, and AVG downloads work fine with it. In fact AVG has its own download program and is not browser dependent. You can click on the Update Now bar in the Update Manager section and AVG will initiate a net connection and download automatically; no browser need be present. Hope it helps

2002-12-02 06:27:00 | Thanks for your reply Rodger, When I click on the Update Now bar the following message appears:" An automatic connection to the internet could not be established . Please manually establish a connection to download your Update Files" . This message appears even if I am already connected . I always thought Opera was the problem, but maybe it is the processor . It is only a wee 486 DX2, which we use in our dining room, mainly for Email, simple games and some wordprocessing . But you made me curious, so I uninstalled and reinstalled AVG 6 . Makes no difference . May look at a few other things . Otherwise will happily continue to update manually . We have no problems with our other PC, which is a Pentium . Anyway, thanks very much for your interest . Antonia
