102049 2002-11-28 03:01:00 hi
i have a problem
I have to PC's networked at home
Both using Win 98se.
I have had the network up and running for a while now - played games over it, transfered files etc
Just recently (week ago) i decided to install "internet connection sharing"
i found a tutorial on the net - and followed tht, no probs
It worked fine
but now and then, when the client PC is turned on, and i turn the host pc on - the host locks up after about 2-5min after boot, or if host is on net - client is then turned on - the host freezes.
other examples are - both pcs are on, host dials up to net - freezes.

It doesn't always happen, but its starting to really annoy me.

The client PC NEVER locks up due to this - its always the host.

and, it always freezes - no errors - no blue screens etc - just stops.

None of teh PC's have firewalls (i had them, but got rid of them - thought tht was reason for this - no luck)
I have reinstalled the ICS, no luck.

Also - if i unplug the network cable - and switch host pc on, go on net - no probs.

cheers
let me no if you need any more info

Please help
Thanks in advance

102050 2002-11-28 03:03:00 also - one more thing - could it be the ICS program itself?
is there another ICS program i could try?

Just a thought

102051 2002-11-29 01:22:00 Try always turning the "host" one on first. That might help. ;-) Bumping this up might provoke someone else with a better idea. :D Graham L (2)
