| 102540 | 2002-11-29 21:06:00 | Is it just me or has the speed incresed??? i seem to be constantly getting 16 - 17 kbs instead of the normal 13 - 15. may not sound like much of an increase but it does help. any one noticed it or am i alone??? | demonmors (1299) | ||
| 102541 | 2002-11-29 21:27:00 | I have always had around 16 kB/s. Some servers are slower, and can be 4 kB/s but not many. It also depends what you are downloading, as to get 16 k/B sec requires some compression to take place (to offset the overhead of checksum data). Highly compressable data gives a higher reading. 128 k/b circuit is only good for 13-15 kB/s with no compression. (128/8 = 16kB, with a 10% overhead for extra data for checksums gives 14 kB/s) |
