102507 2002-11-29 08:06:00 Problem with the registry at startup is corrected after registry checker does its thing and I click on restart, what do I have to do to get a clean startup. I am using Win98 2nd edition. bydand (2602)

102509 2002-11-29 08:40:00 It pays to find out what is causing the problem in the first place. Have you recently installed any programs? Do you have problems with shutting down the computer? If so, let us know what they are.

If you can pinpoint the problem you can try and fix it, but if not have a look in the FAQs for the Registry (link top right of this page). In there it will tell you how to restore a previous good working copy. When you have that good copy, do an export to save it in case you need it another time.

Now do a registry backup, following the instructions in the FAQ to keep that good copy loaded.

With a bit of luck your problem should be solved, but if not then you really need to find out why this is happening.
