| 102417 | 2002-11-29 10:43:00 | I have one question I can not see the answer to any where. The Pc I am about to load Linux Mandrake 9 on too has a SCSI board and SCSI CDRom. (I am a novice an this but interested in how it works.) How do I set this up to boot from the CD or is this not possible. I am a novice when it comes to SCSI. ;\ |

| 102418 | 2002-11-29 17:58:00 | In your PC's BIOS there will be a section labelled "Boot" or something similar (Go figure). In there you'll probably have a choice of several drives including SCSI or d,e,f and maybe g. try out a combination of those, remembering that the CD (Or what you hope the CD is) is in first place for the boot order. | 102419 | 2002-12-02 01:45:00 | You may not be able to bood from a SCSI CD. If not, this is not fatal ... on the install CD you will have a DOS programme called RAWRITE (probably in a directory called "dosutils" and there will be some files with a ".img" extension (probably in an "images" directory. These are so you can make doot floppies for the installation. Have a look at all the files called ReadMe, readme1st, etc in the root directory of the 1st CD. These files are accessible from Windows or DOS. The boot floppies are made from "image" files: they need "perfect" floppies. Do full formats of the floppies, and if there are any bad sectors, don't use them. |
