| 103037 | 2002-12-03 09:08:00 | A query, HP Pavillion 6700 computer Winblows ME os 600 MHz processor 15 GB HDD (Partioned 10/5) 192 mb Ram 56K External Modem Thing is: When I'm running on the web under Winblows ME, Opera 6.05 Browser It seems remarkable slow compared to Linux Mandrake 9.0 Mozilla browser. | 103040 | 2002-12-03 20:36:00 | Two things I've noticed which speed up internet browsing in windows when I had 56k were 1. Moving the internet cache to a 30mb RAM disk and 2. upgrading to WinXP. I'm guessing that the use of RAM can make quite a difference to browsing speed and that Opera doesn't do as good a job as Mozzilla? |

| 103044 | 2002-12-04 10:52:00 | Hi Baldy I had IE5 then upgraded to 5.5 but found both seemed a bit slow. So I tried Opera am up to 6.05 now, have just done a non scientific test with Opera and IE, sorry but my conclusion is that Opera is a little faster. I can not however do the same between Linux/mozilla and windows/opera/IE. To the others that replied merlin never used a wand, as far as legend has it he was a hand wizard, not to say he never gazed into the occasional round piece of crystal. :D cheers merlin-nz ;-) |
