| 102961 | 2002-12-03 04:56:00 | So much has been talked and discussed about DVD zoning issues in the past. Now, I've got a Pioneer DVD-103 installed on my machine but it has never been used. I was doing some research on DVD zoning and came acrossed an article from www.firmware.com.bi that I have to insert the RPC jumper before my first use of a DVD. If not, the drive will become RPC-2 (or zone locked) after the first DVD insertion. The article further indicated that I could only change the setting (region) only 5 times even after I inserted the RPC jumper, if I interpreted it correctly. So, by inserting the RPC jumper, it only extended the number of times one can change the zoning from 1 to 5 times. It will still be locked after my 5th insertion. Will flashing the firmware upgrade makes it region free? Cheers |
