103135 2002-12-03 23:59:00 Yes well my winamp whenever I quit it comes up with perfomed illegal op at kernel32.dll

and anything else that performs a illegal op is normally at kernel32.dll

now I know this is the CORE file for windows, but why the heck is it doing it.
I am running win 98 se, 192 ram, AMD Duron 900 mhz, 1st mainboard with via 4 in 1s installed.

103136 2002-12-04 00:23:00 there are as many resions as there are people who hate MS :-)

my first question is is there a patten to the crashes??

EG: only when the computer has been on for hours?
only when just started??
only when exiting winamp??

it could be a driver problem.
it could be bad ram.
it could be a registry problem.
it could be ..........

103138 2002-12-04 00:59:00 yeah I have suspected faulty ram for quite a while seeing as how my registry keeps performing errors. But i deleted regsitrw.exe or what ever it is and scanreg.exe

My computer is also on all the time. It gets shut down every 3 or so days, that can't be helpful. The power supply is new, 300w. I also think my hard drive is failing. I have written DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:ON into config.sys but will restart later.

103139 2002-12-04 01:00:00 oh yes and it does happen in some other programmes.

I installed winamp 2.81 it still performs illegal op but at <unknown> im going to take a 80% guess that it is still at kernel32.dll :)
